Anna Maria Island Privateers BOARD OF DIRECTORS

I became a member because I wanted to help make a difference in the community and meet like-minded people. I joined in 2013 and have been the Liaison as well as the marketer. I have been on the board since 2023 as Vice President. 

I joined in March of 2023 and wanted to pursue some of the things I had always wanted to do after I retired. My two favorite subjects are vampires and pirates, in that I am an author of books that deal with both of those subjects. I have always had a flair for the theatrical so dressing up like pirates seemed like a lot of fun. My careers were ones of service, both national and community. This seemed like a good way of continuing with that. I like belonging to a group of tight knit and closely bonded people, united behind a common cause. I had that in both of my careers and missed that. The Anna Maria Island Privateers seemed to fill that role for me and so I joined.  

I’ve been a member since 2013. I joined because I wanted to join something fun and make connections while helping my local community. I got my pirate name because I fell asleep on the ship once, and it stuck. 

I joined the AMI Privateers in 2011. I joined the krewe in honor of my sister Ruthie “Pegleg”. I was President from 2017-2019, Vice President from 2015-2017, and Liaison in 2013.
